Artist Statement
My works are contemporary interpretations of the intersection of the natural world and the built environment, often painting agricultural scenes and coastal moments. I typically employ hard-edge techniques and organic palettes, condensing visual information into still, stylized compositions. My artistic practice is influenced by my upbringing in the Mennonite tradition and my previous involvement in agriculture and education. I find inspiration in the work of various color field artists, and 20th century American Modernist.
