Lukas Sedlak’s Rider of Dreams Series Anchors “A Season for Art” at International Art Acquisitions
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — International Art Acquisitions presents A Season for Art, on view November 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027 at the gallery’s Monroe Avenue location. The exhibition features Lukas Sedlak’s Rider of Dreams series, shown alongside the gallery’s main collection. Admission is free.
Sedlak’s original paintings balance refined realism with expressive brushwork. Carefully rendered figures, often a rider with a horse, are set against passages of spontaneous, diffused abstraction: broad gestural marks, open grounds and paint left to run down the canvas. Faces, hands and the heads of horses are drawn with close attention, while clothing, manes and backgrounds loosen into color and movement.
The tension between control and spontaneity gives the work an emotional complexity that deepens over time.
That interplay invites reflection, and it rewards time spent with the physical paintings, where the shift from precise rendering to open gesture is most apparent. The series sets the tone for a joyous season of art at the gallery.
A Season for Art is on view alongside the gallery’s broader collection of original paintings and master graphics spanning American, European, Impressionist & Modern, Post-War and Contemporary art.
