Biography

Born:
Hayward, California December 21, 1950

Education:
California State University at Hayward – Bachelor of Arts Degree with emphasis in oil painting.

Artist Statement

Walking through a garden of early morning dew, surrounded by the fresh smell of a new day, I focus on tiny images that will be the subjects of my paintings. These images, when painted on canvas, take on a whole new feeling. Painted larger than life they tend to command attention and become much more dramatic.

I have been influenced by the artwork of Georgia O’Keefe and contemporary realist David Ligare.

I find great inspiration in travelling. Such diverse locations as Santa Barbara and Coastal California; Tlaquepaque, Puerto Vallarta, Chichen-Itza, Uxmal, Cozumel, Tulum and Coba, Mexico; the Florida Keys; Hydra and Mykonos, Greece, have all had some influence on my work.

The message I wish to convey in my art is one of serenity, peace and beauty in any life form. I’m fascinated with color, light and shadow and am intrigued by the structure and form of my subjects.

Nature is a playground, for it is within it that I find and portrays the beauty, serenity and simplicity of natural forms that so many of us overlook everyday of our lives.
