Exhibition: “Messaging as Art” by Nicholas Roes

Exhibition Brief: Published August 7th, 2024

From August 1, 2024, through October 31, 2024, International Art Acquisitions proudly presents “Messaging as Art,” a compelling exhibition by New York artist Nicholas Roes. Showcasing Roes’ evolving dialogue and narrative themes through his diverse artistic practice, which spans from intimate rural landscapes to innovative minimalism.

Nicholas Roes, born in Lowville, NY, and raised on a family farm in the Adirondacks, brings a unique perspective to his work. With a BA in Art and Education from Gordon College in Wenham Massachusetts. Roes combines his background in agriculture and education with a contemporary approach to art.

Several of the paintings in this body of work explore the intersection of nature and constructed environments, employing hard-edge techniques and organic palettes to distill visual experiences into stylized compositions. In “Messaging as Art,” Roes also delves into abstract forms, infusing his work with light, darkness, color, form, and texture inspired by the external world. This abstract approach aims to create a meditative experience for viewers, inviting them to engage with the artwork on a deeper, more introspective level.

Influenced by his Mennonite upbringing and inspired by color field artists and 20th-century American Modernists, Roes’ work reflects a deep engagement with both his personal history and broader modern artistic movements.

“Messaging as Art” provides a fascinating look into Roes’ ongoing exploration of themes and techniques, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary art. We invite collectors and art enthusiasts to experience this exhibition and appreciate the depth and nuance of Nicholas Roes’ artistic vision. For inquiries, please contact the gallery.
